1996-1999 Semiconductor Pat Litig Harris Semiconductor v. Lucky Goldstar, et al
Semiconductor patent dispute involving '005 & '241 patents authored by Roger Stewart
Attorney/Firm: Harry Deffebach & Mitch Evander, attorneys at Harris Semiconductor
Responsibilities: Served as a factual witness for my own patents on behalf of Harris Semiconductor which
included helping to get the case assigned to Virginia, writing & reviewing expert reports, doing 80 hours of
depositions in several different cases and preparations for serving as a factual witness at trial.
Resolution: The last of these cases came within a few days of the trial date before the defendants reached a
settlement with Harris Semiconductor and signed a patent licensing agreement. All of the defendants settled out of
court with Harris Semiconductor signing patent licensing agreements worth more than 100 $M.

numerous related motions, testifying as a expert witness to a jury in Los Angeles Federal Court, cross-examination,
and re-direct.
Resolution: After deliberating for a full week, the jury in November '06 handed down a mixed verdict. The jury
found Chunghwa to be "not guilty" of any infringement of claims #10 & #11 of the '449 patent on which I had
testified as an expert witness.

Symbol agreed to sign a licensing agreement with Intermec.
